We challenged American Rights at Work to debate EFCA a long time ago and so far they have refused our offer. Why won't they defend their own bill?

Find out how unions want to eliminate elections

Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia scored quite a haul (before the nepotism charges, that is.)
Lights. Camera. Infraction. Teamsters Local 107 will not be able to continue to take advantage of its lucrative position placing Philly Teamsters on sets when movies–and movie stars–come to town. From the Philadelphia Inquirer: It’s a chance to rub elbows with Hollywood stars. And make good money while doing it. For years, a select group of Teamsters [more...]

Union backing in Arkansas a touchy subject
Arkansas’ Senate seat is just one battle ground against moderate Democrats who have not lived up to Big Labor’s EFCA expectations. Lt. Gov. Bill Halter released a press statement detailing more than $500,000 in campaign contributions by labor groups to Blanche Lincoln. The same release calls Blanche’s accusations that Halter’s debt has been paid off to [more...]

Prison Guards in Pennsylvania vote against unionizing
Pennsylvania is such a union stronghold, it naturally caught my eye when Chester County guards voted down the union by a wide margin. The “Chester County Corrections Officers Independent Union” would have been associated with the Teamsters Local 312, who was “ecstatic” and “anxious” at the prospect of the guards forming a union.  From The [more...]

Survey of Labor Economists Shows Overwhelming Opposition to EFCA, Binding Arbitration

studynlrbA new survey of nine hundred and twenty-five (925) labor economists conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center for the Center for Union Facts illustrates a growing consensus among experts that increased unionization will have a negative effect on the economy.

The survey further indicates that labor economists are overwhelmingly opposed to a bill currently before Congress that would radically overhaul existing labor law at the expense of American businesses.

NLRB Data Shows Marginal Employer Misconduct in Union Organizing Campaigns

studynlrbToday the Center for Union Facts (CUF) released an analysis of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) data which refutes union claims of widespread employer intimidation and lagging union win rates in organizing elections.

In 2007 and 2008 the NLRB received 4,208 unique petitions requesting a secret ballot election. During that span the NLRB determined that only 158 election-related ULP charges or 3.75% which alleged unlawful terminations had merit. The Board further determined that 309 such claims were without merit. These figures come from the NLRB?s Case Activity Tracking System (CATS) which is used to tabulate the statistics in the Board?s annual reports. A complete copy of the CATS database was obtained by CUF through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Union Math, Union Myths

Union officials have made ending secret ballots for workers deciding whether to join a union their highest legislative priority. Instead of elections, they want a “card check” process that is set up for fraud and is unfair to working Americans. Learn more about the dangers of this union scheme in our new report, “When Voting Isn’t Private: The Union Campaign Against Secret Ballot Elections.” You’ll find out why:

  • Union bosses want to end elections, even though they win more than 50% of the time
  • Editorial pages from across America are denouncing card check and demanding secret ballot elections
  • 75 percent of Americans think secret ballots are the most democratic method of choosing a union
